A food disaster nearby caused by a complete work suspension in port of Beirut

The Syndicate of Food Importers in Lebanon has warned that the total cessation of work in the port of Beirut portends a major food disaster and huge losses that will be incurred by private sector companies, as a result of the disruption of the customs system and the suspension of work in the company operating the containers.

The union called on those concerned in the port to stop the floor fees that companies pay in cash USD, on goods and other port fees, until work is restored to the port. After hospital employees and members of the liberal professions unions, it is the turn of the employees of the National Social Security Fund, whose banks are currently refraining from paying their grants and salaries in cash.

We will discuss this matter live. via phone call, with the head of the Syndicate of Warranty Users, Hassan Houmani.

The joint parliamentary committees held a session during which they discussed the proposal to abolish the monopoly and exclusive representation and the proposal to liberalize the import of medicines and medical supplies and lift the monopoly on them.

The deputies demanded that an accountability session with the relevant ministers to find out the fate of the financing card whose law was approved in the House of Representatives months ago, considering that there is something deliberate not facilitating the goal in achieving the support of citizens to confront material and monetary issues, prices, monopoly and outrageous high prices in the market.
