During his visit to Washington, Bahaa Hariri met with a delegation of members of the US Congress.
For the occasion, he posted a tweet on his personal account on Twitter, which he attached with a photo of the delegation members, and it said: “It was my great pleasure to meet Congressman James E. Clyburn and other representatives from Congress while visiting DC.”
He added: I thanked the US for its economic and security assistance to Lebanon, while raising issues such as the difficulties of voting for the Diaspora in this month’s elections, ensuring the renegotiation of the JCPOA does not come at Lebanon’s expense, and c) encouraging the US to review its engagement with corrupt Lebanese officials in government.
The Saudi journalist and editor-in-chief of the electronic newspaper Elaph, Othman Al-Omair, had tweeted: “Bahaa Rafic Hariri met in Washington, one of the political influencers there and the representative of the Carolinas state, Mr. James E. Clyburn.”
Al-Omair added, “The meeting is important, especially since this member is an influential figure on the American president, and he helped him in the elections, and he will do it in the future.”
He concluded, “No one knows what happened between them.”
