Indian meat invades the market… Cause for concern?

Food security has returned to the fore after talking about fears of buying imported Indian meat that invades the markets, and rumors circulating about its corruption. Is meat in general and Indian meat in particular transported to the port according to sound standards? Can this meat really be considered one of the worst types?

Eid holds the responsibility for bringing this type of meat into Lebanon to some traders and importers registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, who are trying to take advantage of the bad economic situation.

Eid asked the Ministry of Health to take periodic samples in order to regularize the situation and called on citizens when buying meat to take it from the carcass with its bone.

For its part, the Ministry of Agriculture confirms that Indian meat, like any other, is subject to the necessary disclosures and examinations before being presented in the market, and puts the controversy within the framework of “the war between two competing sectors”, especially since the uproar came from live meat dealers whose imports have declined since mid-2021 in conjunction with the support phase.
