The Ministry of Economy and Trade denied to Sawt Beirut International that Lebanon is on the verge of a wheat or loaf crisis, or that subsidies on the bundle of bread had been removed.
The Minister of Economy and Trade believes that Lebanon is in a sensitive phase, and that mills, bakers, and merchants may be expressing their sorrow and suffering as a result of the tough conditions, but no matter how bad things grow, the citizen’s livelihood cannot be manipulated.
He also emphasized that wheat is accessible and that no decision has been made to end wheat subsidies, and that the citizen’s livelihood comes first and foremost.
