The Elysee Palace witnessed the inauguration of Emmanuel Macron as President of France for a second term in five years, after winning the presidential elections two weeks ago.
In a brief speech, the French president called for moving relentlessly to make France more independent, stressing the quest to build a strong French army capable of confronting terrorism.
Macron won 58.5% of the vote in the second round, ahead of far-right candidate Marine Le Pen, and his party will contest the first challenge in the legislative elections next month.
