We start our bulletin today with Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Lebanon, where the Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, considered in the Eid sermon that “what happened in Tripoli does not happen for the first time, and the state, through its lack of concern for living security, contributed intentionally or unintentionally to what happened.” People suffer from loss and pain,” noting that “hunger does not distinguish between sects, religions and regions.”
Derian stressed that “the elections are the opportunity available to us to achieve change, and therefore I warn of the danger of refraining from participating in this entitlement.” Noting that “none of the losers have the courage to admit what they have committed. Rather, they classify themselves as angels in order to be back, so beware of their deceptive and misleading statements.”
In the same context, Prime Minister Najib Mikati affirmed, after performing the Eid prayer at the Mohammed Al-Amin Mosque, the necessity of participating in the electoral process, where President Fouad Saniora agreed to what he said in response to the invitation of Mufti Derian.
