National Clown Day in Peru

Dozens of people attended the Carnival of Clowns, which is held yearly in Lima, Peru, to commemorate National Clown Day.

Participants in this event of various ages dressed ornately and colorfully and adorned their faces like clowns, and marched through the streets to the sounds of music and singing, as well as the praise of the people.

This practice began in 1987 in commemoration of a man known as the clown of the poor in the country, and he used to visit Lima people to entertain them, but he died alone in the hospital after suffering from sickness.
