“National Council for Price Policy” is being tested… Will it succeed?

The chaos in the prices taking place in Lebanon against the backdrop of the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar and its decline in a few days is still dominating other issues, while attention is directed to what will be the role of the “National Council for Price Policy”, which was issued a decree to form it for the first time since the decision to establish it in 1974. What is the importance of this council and who does it include?

The head of the General Labor Union, Bechara Al-Asmar, is open to this step despite some reservations, and is keen to implement laws and cooperate in any field, to raise the voice of workers and the poor.

With the anticipation of what the markets will be in the coming days, will the National Council for Price Policy be a good step for the economy, if it begins its work?

Those concerned stress that the real way to set a clear price policy is to stabilize the exchange rate of the lira against the dollar, especially in light of this stifling economic crisis, and to avoid the application of laws.
