The Lebanese army is still paying a heavy price in its war on drug dealers.

Today, the military establishment announced the death of a soldier and the wounding of five during a qualitative raid carried out by a force of the Lebanese army in the Al-Sharawneh neighborhood in the Bekaa, with the aim of arresting Ali Munther Zuaiter, nicknamed “Abu Sala”, one of the biggest drug dealers. The operation, which was carried out by the army with the support of military helicopters, also led to the arrest of a number of wanted persons, some of whom are Abu Sala’s most prominent aides.
