Saudi, French flags fly in Beirut’s sky

As soon as the French-Saudi summit, which brought together French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the contact with Prime Minister Najib Mikati, concluded, analyses began at all levels. However, the Saudi-French statement was clear, drawing a road map for resolving the Lebanese crisis, which stipulated the implementation of all International resolutions, particularly those related to Lebanese sovereignty.

These clauses brought relief to the Lebanese street, especially when the so-called Sovereign Party in Lebanon demands that arms be restricted to the state only and considers Iran’s influence in Lebanon to be an occupation, as demonstrated by some by raising the Saudi flag and sending messages to the Saudi and French leaderships simultaneously.

The Lebanese understand that international resolutions will be executed eventually, and Resolution No. 425 is not the last of such resolutions that have been enforced despite being issued against Israel. According to the current state of affairs in Lebanon, the sovereign team intends to increase political and nonviolent opposition in order to restrict Iranian influence, as he put it, in order to achieve Lebanon’s freedom, sovereignty, and independence.
