The Supreme Judicial Council issues its decision regarding Judge Ghada Aoun

The hearing session lasted forty minutes with Judge Ghada Aoun in the Palace of Justice, and upon the support chants by the supporters of the Free Patriotic Movement, Judge Aoun lodged complaints against the discriminatory Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghassan Oweidat, after which she left without making any statement. the Supreme Judicial Council session continued for more than seven hours, where a statement came out stressing  that what is happening is not a conflict between the Public Prosecutor and the Public Prosecutor of Appeal, and it is certainly not a political struggle between two parties as some portray it, and it is not the result of the moment or the result of a file.

The Council requested the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation and the Chief of Judicial Inspection to take appropriate measures, each within the scope of his jurisdiction, regarding the performance of Judge Ghada Aoun, so the the Council will listen to her vis a vis her violation of the obligation of reservation, and her failure to implement her repeated commitments before the Council, and her refusal to attend the Public Prosecution Discriminatory.

In view of her stances and actions following the issuance of the decision of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation on 4/15/2021, which included amending the distribution of work at the Public Prosecution Office of Appeal in Mount Lebanon, the Supreme Judicial Council decided the following:

1- Request the Judicial Inspection Authority to take the necessary action.
2- Requesting Judge Aoun to abide by the decision of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation in force to date.
