Berri meets new Finland’s Ambassador, French delegation, broaches overall situation with European Ambassadors, cables King Charles III

House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Friday welcomed at the Second Presidency in Ain al-Tineh, Finland’s newly appointed Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Meskanen, who paid him a protocol visit upon assuming her diplomatic mission in the country.

Speaker Berri also received the President of the Regional Council of French Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Renaud Muselier, with an accompanying delegation, in the presence of French Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Grillo.

Berri then met with European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Ralph Tarraf, in the presence of the Ambassadors of Member States of the European Union in Lebanon, with whom he discussed the overall developments in the country.

The delegation raised the course of negotiations between Lebanon and the International Monetary Fund and the reform legislations that have already been accomplished and those that are underway.

Speaker Berri, in turn, gave an extensive  presentation on a road map to save the situation in Lebanon, notably the agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the implementation of reform laws from the state budget to the “Capital Control” law, the banking secrecy law and the economic recovery plan. Berri stressed “the importance of preserving the rights of depositors as a main factor for regaining confidence at the financial and banking levels, and for the recovery of the economic cycle in the country.”

On the other hand, Berri cabled King Charles III, congratulating him on his accession to the throne, wishing him success in his new mission.
