Sawt Beirut International’s News Bulletin – April 1st, 2022

Politicians’ Day in Lebanon is April 1st!

Today marks 1st of April. In other terms, it marks the World Lie Day. In this occasion, we can tell a little white lie to others for a short time and quickly show them that it is not true. As a result, the lie is forgivable. The opposite is true at the system’s pillars, as they lie every day, and their lies are as black as their hearts. We would never stop enumerating their lies to the Lebanese if we wanted to.

It is sufficient to stop at two fabricated lies that they attempted to pass on to us. The first lie is that they want to launch the economic recovery plan as soon as possible, so they want to approve the 2022 budget and the Capital Control Law immediately. However, as a result, it became clear that their promises are empty, their intentions are dishonest, and their goals are fictitious.

They are only interested in winning elections, not in achieving financial reform and economic recovery. As a result, they procrastinated and ran out of legislative time, so the two laws are unlikely to be passed before the parliamentary elections. The second big lie is the Covenant’s ferocious war against the governor of the Banque du Liban.

Whether or not this war is eligible, it has been demonstrated that the Covenant uses it as a bargaining chip with others. That is, he turned Riad Salameh’s head into a commodity for sale. The covenant does not seek reform or the abolition of corruption; rather, it seeks other gains and new benefits by exploiting to the greatest extent possible Riad Salameh’s bad and illegal practices in the governance of the Central Bank.

To summarize, lying rules the situation in Lebanon, and the ruling system is a blatant model of perpetual lying. That is why we wish them a Happy April and hope all goes well with them!
