In today’s news bulletin:
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Charbel Wehbe has triggered a hard-hitting diplomatic scandal. Did you ever hear about a foreign minister who attacks a friendly and brotherly country because a journalist or researcher provoked him? Have you ever seen a foreign minister loses his temper and leave the program’s studio because he lost the ability to contend with argument and convince the other guest? Whoever has not heard and seen such two matters yet, he should return to what the Lebanese Foreign Minister did on the “Al Hurra” channel.
Indeed, it is a shocking and shameful scene. Wehbe, who is not well known between Lebanese because he didn’t achieve any success neither during his journey as a minister nor as an ambassador, have made a big mistake yesterday. He became famous and well known to the majority of Lebanese and to people in the Gulf States, especially the Saudis. Wehbe has accused the Gulf States because the guest didn’t mention “His Excellency” before talking about the President of the Republic Michel Aoun, without being aware of the impact of his stances on ties between Lebanon and the brotherly countries.
Dear Minister, who inspired you to take this non-diplomatic stance? Are you Lebanon’s foreign minister or Hezbollah’s foreign minister? How were you able, in few moments, to destroy the traditional distinguished ties between two brother countries?
Nevertheless, thank you for proving that you are unqualified to be a foreign minister, and that you take your orders from your patrons. Does Wehbe deserve being the successor of brilliant diplomatists such as Philip Takla, Camille Chamoun, Charles Malek, Fouad Nafaa and Fouad Boutros?
Positions in Lebanon have been scorned, indeed. Therefore, the Lebanese State is required to take a clear stance on what Wehbe have made. It should halt his duties as a Foreign Minister in the caretaker government, because he is threatening the country’s regional and global interests and ties.
Wehbe’s interests can not be prioritized over the country’s relations with Saudi Arabia. The interests of Lebanese in the Kingdom may be threatened as a result of the accusations he launched indiscriminately against allied countries. Will the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister take the appropriate decision, or the Minister of Coincidence will remain in his position at all costs?
