Naim Qassem: Master of Truth Manipulation!

Sheikh Naim Qassem, Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General, ignited a storm of questions and prompted an endless succession of gestures of amazement and astonishment every time he spoke. Qassem is one of the most competent at manipulating facts. Qassem’s latest “achievement” was a plea on Saudi Arabia to stop intervening in Lebanese affairs.

It is evident that Qassem made a typo in the title, and it is also certain that Qassem mixed up Iran and Saudi Arabia when he discussed interference in the affairs of others. Saudi Arabia does not send arms and missiles to Lebanon. Saudi Arabia did not build a military force in Lebanon that is comparable to the strength of the Lebanese army. Saudi Arabia did not issue the Lebanese decision through a party that began a rebellion against Israel and later became a burden on the country.

Saudi Arabia is not the one that neglected the Lebanese state and negotiated with a faction linked with it, providing it with a variety of supplies, including diesel ships, in order to bolster its popular standing as the elections approached. All of these actions that are contradictory to logic and state relations are done by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has no objective other than to turn Lebanon into a dependent republic tied to the Iranian Republic…

By dealing appropriately with the slaughter committed by Lebanese forces, the country is moving into the dark. Where was Amal and Hezbollah’s foresight when they purposefully approached the Ain al-Rummaneh area? Was the man guilty for the massacre, as he defined it, the one who defended his home, land, property, and life, or the one who forcibly entered territory that was not his during a tense political moment fraught with sectarianism?

Manipulation of the truth, Mr. Qassem, is no longer effective. “The people are watching everything,” and you recall that Hezbollah’s excess power is no longer conceivable because the party has lost the trust of the Lebanese. Power excess varies, but once lost, it cannot be regained, and it is the beginning of the end for any power, no matter how arrogant and despotic it is!
