The European Union delegation in Lebanon reiterated in a statement that “The Union affirms the need to complete the investigations into Beirut Port explosion, as soon as possible, to be impartial and to be carried out with credibility, transparency and independence. Legal proceedings must be allowed to proceed without any interference, and those responsible for this tragedy must be held accountable.”
It also indicated that “it is up to the Lebanese authorities to enable the investigation to continue by securing all necessary human and financial resources required, so that it can reveal what happened on August 4, 2020 and give credible answers to the urgent questions raised by the Lebanese people, about the reasons that led to the incident, and the way it occured.”
