The economic expert, Dr. Adib Tohme, confirmed during a call with Sawt Beirut International that “the draft decree stipulating the increase in the daily transportation allowance for the private sector, which amounts to 65 thousand Lebanese pounds, is to give a morphine needle to silence the people, whose suffering will worsen under this tired authority.”

He further stated that “the political class is what got us to this disastrous scenario, and it is what lead us to this precipice, and the court must put restrictions on their accounts,” stressing that “the financial transfers received by politicians are mostly stolen Lebanese funds.”

“More Lebanese currency will be printed, which will increase pressure on the black market and raise the dollar exchange rate as soon as the project concerned with increasing the transportation allowance is launched, leading to endless inflation, which further exacerbates the economic situation,” Tohme concluded.
