President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, condoled the President of the State of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, for the martyrdom of Palestinian journalist, Sherine Abu Akleh, who was shot by the Israeli treachery.
The President affirmed that the Israeli occupation, with this crime, adds to its bloody history a new chapter of aggression, and disregard for rights, life and justice.
“With great pain, I received the news of the martyrdom of the Palestinian media figure, Sherine Abu Akleh, by the bullets of Israeli treachery, while she was practicing her journalistic work in the service of truth and free opinion.
Abu Akleh joins the convoy of martyrs of occupied Palestine who, with their solid will, faced the arrogance of the Israeli occupation.
Abu Akleh confirms once again with its blood that this brutal occupation disregards all international charters and laws that support media work, and adds with this crime to its bloody history a new chapter of abuse, aggression and disregard for rights, life and justice.
On this sad occasion, I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and to the entire Palestinian people, asking God Almighty to bestow his mercy on the martyr, inspire her family patience and solace, and provide you with health and determination in serving your people and the just Palestinian cause”.
