Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit, confirmed today, Saturday, that “speeding up the formation of a government that will take it upon itself to implement the necessary reforms immediately, will enable the Arab and international community to engage effectively in saving Lebanon and supporting the Lebanese people.”

He added, in a statement published by the Arab League via “Facebook”, commenting on the appeal of Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati, “We continue our solidarity with Lebanon and stand by the Lebanese people.”

“I wish President Mikati well in addressing the obstacles that have been hindering the formation process, and  which unfortunately have not been overcome for more than a year.” Abul Gheit said before heading to Baghdad.
