Sheikh Baha al-Hariri tweeted on his Twitter account, saying: People today in desperate need of fuel. The solution is for the state to provide this material to its citizens, rather than a corrupt party that works to undermine the safety and security of Lebanon.

Smuggled fuel only serves to reinforce the division, and its smuggling through illegal crossings undermines the role of the state and its institutions as a whole.

الشعب اليوم بأمسّ الحاجة الى الوقود. ويقضي الحلّ بأن توفّر الدولة هذه المادّة لمواطنيها بدلاً من أن يوفرها حزب فاسد يعمل على تقويض سلامة وأمن لبنان. فالوقود المُهرّب لا يؤدي إلا إلى تعزيز الانقسام، وتهريبه من خلال المعابر غير الشرعية أمر يقوض دور الدولة ومؤسّساتها ككلّ.
