The price of the dollar stabilized today, at the beginning of Thursday’s trading, to range between 27200-27300 Lebanese pounds for every one dollar.
The dollar exchange rate in the parallel market closed yesterday evening, Wednesday, at a price ranging between 27,200 – 27250 Lebanese pounds per dollar, after it had recorded in the afternoon a price ranging between 27225 – 27275 Lebanese pounds per dollar.
The Central Bank announced in a statement, “The trading volume on the Sayrafa platform amounted to about 71.5 million dollars on Wednesday evening, at a rate of 22,600 Lebanese pounds per dollar, according to the exchange rates of operations carried out by banks and exchange institutions on the platform.”
The Central Bank called on all banks and exchange institutions to continue recording all sales and purchases on the “Sayrafa” platform, in accordance with the circulars issued in this regard.
Riad Salameh, the Governor of the Central Bank, had announced in a statement, “The Central Council agreed to extend the effects of Basic Circular 161 until the end of May 2022, subject to renewal.”
Salameh stressed that “the deal in US dollar banknotes in exchange for Lebanese banknotes continues with banks without a specific ceiling on the exchange platform.”
