Blinken, Emirati counterpart addresses several issues, including Lebanon

During their discussion on the sidelines of the climate conference in Glasgow, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken discussed many issues with his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The two ministers reviewed developments in Lebanon and Syria, the US State Department said in a statement.

“Secretary Blinken again underlined the strong US support for the Sudanese people’s aspirations for democracy, and stressed the necessity for the reinstatement of a transitional government led by civilians in Sudan,” the statement added.

The statement emphasized the US interest in “ensuring balanced energy markets” and its demand for “major energy producers, particularly the UAE, to raise production until economic conditions and energy market conditions normalize in light of the Covid-19 epidemic.”

Blinken expressed gratitude to his Emirati counterpart for assisting in the removal of US nationals from Afghanistan as well as the evacuation of US embassy staff and visitors.

He also lauded the UAE’s and Israel’s development during the previous year.
