The member of the Syndicate of Gas Station Owners Georges Brax indicated that the budget allocated for fuel subsidies have expired, and the Central Bank will no longer opens credits, therefore, the support will be enough only for mid-September.”

Brax explained in a television statement, that the available quantities of fuel are sufficient until mid-September only. He added that if the Central Bank refused to approve opening new credits, the country will head towards lifting subsidies, and prices will be determined according to the price schedule, which will approach 300,000 LBP per diesel tank and even more.

Brax stated that there will not be any shortages in diesel after liberating the import and distribution process in dollars, however the obstacle will remain for gasoline because it is imported at the exchange rate of 8,000 LBP.
