The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:

On May 12, 2022, while inspecting vegetables bought by A.F. (born in 2004, of Syrian nationality) to the two prisoners (A. Q.) and (A. H.) in Batroun Prison, one of the inspection officers in the said prison, through a thorough search, seized /21/ a small-sized bag, containing material Cannabis, 60 narcotic pills, and “cigarette rolling papers”, professionally hidden inside eggplant vegetables with the aim of smuggling them to prison.

It was later revealed that the two individuals were communicating via phone devices.

Based on a referral from the competent judge, they were detained for drug offenses, and the file and confiscated goods were submitted to the Regional Narcotics Control Office – Tripoli in the Judicial Police Unit for further investigation.
