The Central Bank issued a decision regarding the exchange platform, which has become an important tool for the bank to control the price of the dollar in Lebanon.
Riad Salameh, the Governor of the Central Bank, announced in a statement, “The Central Council agreed to extend the effects of Basic Circular 161 until the end of May 2022, subject to renewal.”
He confirmed that “dealing with US dollar banknotes in exchange for Lebanese banknotes continues with banks without a specific ceiling on the exchange platform.”
The circular allows banks to buy dollars without a ceiling on the central bank’s exchange platform.
