In a television interview, Rony Lahoud, Director General of the Public Corporation for Housing, stated that “the decision to convert to paying fees in dollars is futile and unlawful,” noting that “14,500 applications for prepayment were filed before our department in 2021.”

He emphasized that “our inability to process this quantity of files owing to a shortage of employees has caused us to cease taking advance payment requests until next year.”

The Public Corporation for Housing has declared that it would be closed for the next month in order to process the more than 13,000 applications that have been submitted to it.
