The Civil Court of Cassation rejected the lawsuit requesting the dismissal of Judge Bitar, which was filed by MP Machnouk through his Attorney at-Law.

Judge Bitar did not appear in his office today for a number of reasons, the first of which is that there are no interrogation sessions for witnesses or defendants on his agenda today, and the second is that civil society activists held a demonstration in support of the families of the victims of the port explosion, as well as the imposed security measures.

More than a year after the explosion, no progress has been made in holding senior officials accountable for the deaths of over 200 people and the injuries of thousands more as a result of powerful parties, including Hezbollah and others from the ruling class.
