Minister of National Defense, Maurice Slim, met Tuesday with an Italian delegation headed by Chief of Staff, General Enzo Vecciarelli, in presence of Italy’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Nicoletta Bombardiere.

Talks reportedly touched on the bilateral military cooperation.

During the meeting, Slim thanked Italy for the aids it offers to Lebanon, and hailed the role assumed by the UNIFIL’s Italian contingent.

For her part, Ambassador Bombardiere conveyed to her host a message from Italian Defense Minister, Lorenzo Guerini, in which the latter underlined his country’s readiness to address the needs of the Lebanese army and to continue communication over ties between the two ministries.

Separately, Slim received British Ambassador Ian Collard, with whom he discussed the means of cooperation between Lebanon and the UK.

The diplomat highlighted his country’s commitment to supporting the Lebanese military.
