Diab receives letter from Wehbe stipulating his discharge from Ministerial Affairs

The Caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Charbel Wehbe, at the Grand Serail today, in the presence of Prime Minister’s Advisor Khodor Taleb. Minister Wehbe handed Premier Diab a letter stipulating that he be relieved of his Ministerial responsibilities.

After the meeting, Wehbe delivered the following statement:

“I was honored to visit Prime Minister Hassan Diab, after I met in the morning His Excellency the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, and I informed him of my decision not to pursue my mission at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, and I handed him a letter in this regard. I have undertaken this step in the interest of Lebanon and the Lebanese, which prevails over all other interests and calculations. I hope from the bottom of my heart that this issue will be completely closed and left behind so that Lebanese relations with Arab countries, and friendly and brotherly countries will be established on the basis of mutual respect. I wish success to the one who will be assigned this mission for the sake of Lebanon, with the assurance that we are all working in the interest of the country.”
