Dire conditions…Food insecurity rate increasing

Director and representative of the World Food Program in Lebanon, Abdullah Al-Wardat, pointed out that “we are in dire circumstances, and the rate of food insecurity is on the rise, and we are providing financial aid and food rations to the Lebanese and it is on the way to increase.”

He pointed out, in a statement to MTV, that “85 percent of the wheat that reaches Lebanon is from Ukraine,” explaining that “there is a search for an alternative to the source of wheat, and the main problem is that there is no wheat reserve in Lebanon.” He stressed that “I have no data regarding the arrival of wheat from new sources.”
