In a statement issued today, Raef Reda, the head of the Lebanese Medical Association, urged “not to take the Omicron strain for granted, the invisible and rapidly spreading newly known as BA2, so that hospital beds and intensive care units are not filled with it, especially in these economic conditions.”

He urged the Ministry of Health to “make vaccinations immediately available in all health facilities without a platform, to avert the worst, lest we plunge into a health crisis with foreboding implications, especially because the percentage of community immunity did not surpass 40% after countries exceeded 70%.”
