Energy Ministry: We have obtained a credit of one hundred million dollars from the Central Bank to purchase fuel for electricity generation

Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad assured the citizens that “the network has returned to its normal operation, according to what it was before the gas oil ran out in the Deir Ammar and Zahrani plants.”

In a statement, he thanked the Prime Minister, the Minister of National Defense, the Army Commander, the Electricity of Lebanon Corporation, its chairman and its general manager, for their quick response to reconnecting the electrical network by handing over to the Army Command a total quantity of 6,000 kiloliters of gas-oil, equally between each of the following: Deir Ammar and Al-Zahrani factories, from the reserves of the Lebanese army.

Fayyad announced, “Today, the Jiyeh reverse engine plant was connected to the grid with a power of 50 megawatts, Deir Ammar plant with a power of 210 megawatts, and the reverse engine plant in Zouk with a power of 120 megawatts, and the gas group in Al-Zahrani was also connected to the grid.” He stressed that “less than an hour from now, these factories will reach their maximum capacity available on the network.”
