The Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad met on Wednesday with service provider companies, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Electricité du Liban (EDL) Kamal Hayek.

The President of the Court of Audit, Judge Mohammad Badran, and Judges Abd al-Ridha Nasser and Huda al-Hajj were also present.

The attendees discussed the possibility of renewing the contracts of the service providers and the legal mechanisms required for this. The service providers presented a detailed explanation of the work, and reports regarding the completed work to evaluate performance in terms of the possibility of moving forward.

Fayyad, stressed “the necessity of reactivating the work of service providers and expanding the scope of their services within the legal frameworks, to ensure the management of the public utility in the best service of the citizen, and in the interest of public funds.”
