First French comment on Parliamentary elections .. “To appoint a prime minister without delay”

The French Foreign Ministry indicated that “Lebanon passed an important stage on Sunday, May 15, 2022, by holding legislative elections in the context of the dire crisis that the country has been experiencing for more than two years.”

It praised “the organization of these elections as scheduled,” but regretted the incidents and irregularities recorded by the European Union Election Observation Mission, and hoped that the truth of what happened would be revealed.

In this context, France urged all Lebanese officials to “appoint a prime minister without delay and to form a new government in order to take the necessary measures for the advancement of the country, and to present credible solutions that meet the aspirations of the population, particularly on the basis of the framework agreement signed with the International Monetary Fund.”
In conclusion, it affirmed that “France will continue to stand by the Lebanese people.”
