Foreign ministry condemns Israeli security minister’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants condemned, in a statement on Tuesday, “the Israeli National Security Minister’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque this morning, January 3, 2023, escorted by the Israeli occupation forces.”

The Ministry considered that “this serious violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entire holy site premises by a minister in the new Israeli government indicates the course of the extremist policies that the Israeli government has begun to practice towards the Palestinian people and their rights and sanctities.”

“These policies are also evident in the repeated attacks on Palestinians, the storming of camps and homes, and the destruction of property, especially by changing the features and reality of the city of Al-Quds,” the Foreign Ministry added.

The Ministry also considered these practices “a clear declaration by the Netanyahu government of its aggressive policy and its practical rejection of peace efforts aimed at reaching a solution on the basis of the two states.”

The Ministry also called on the UN Security Council “to assume its responsibilities and to take the necessary actions to curb the dangerous deterioration, deter the Israeli government and oblige it to respect the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.”
