Head of the “Lebanese Forces” party, Samir Geagea, issued the following statement:

To His Excellency the President of the Republic:

For weeks now, private companies and some private sectors, have been trying to obtain from the Minister of Energy- who is your Minister- permissions to import gasoline and diesel at their real prices and sell them at their real prices, after the state was unable to secure it with subsidies, but the Minister of Energy did not respond, which led to the tragedy we’ve been living since months.

We are surprised that Hezbollah, if its statements are for real, will bring a diesel ship, and will most likely empty it at Zahrani refinery. So, will you, Mr. President, leave the party that confiscated the strategic, military and security decision, to confiscate the economic decision today, indifferent about the Lebanese and their interests, and destroying the private sector totally? and depriving the Lebanese all means of decent and acceptable living?

Do you know, Mr. President, what the result of this diesel ship be on Lebanon, at a time when it is legal to import this substance from the international market, if the Minister of Energy has not prevented and suppressed the import?

Mr. President, you bear full responsibility for what may happen to the country as a result of not liberating the import of oil, medicine, and others, while you are letting Hezbollah fulfill these tasks  through its crooked and internationally illegal means that will expose Lebanon to a real catastrophe.
