General Truck Owners Syndicate in Beirut Port announced in a statement:

“After conducting deliberations with the owners of trucks operating at the Port regarding the unprecedented rise in fuel prices, their loss from the market, and the rise in all goods, spare parts and foodstuffs, whereas we had issued a transportation price stipulating 50% in cash USD and 50% in the Lebanese pound in conformity with the platform price, and after we found that it was impossible for us to proceed with such a prices, the union has issued a decision, in agreement with all truck owners, to set the prices as are but in cash dollars, since we are about to go bankrupt and have to quit working.”

“We ask everyone to abide by the content of this notification, and we ask all those dealing with us to understand this forced decision,” the statement added.
