Georges Kordahi’s recently disclosed surprising statements against Saudi Arabia, UAE

Recent words by the Lebanese Minister of Information, Georges Kordahi, appear to be echoing with each attempt by “Kordahi” to downplay the bad impact his statements had on Lebanese-Gulf ties and Lebanese expats in Gulf countries.

The media today broadcast a leaked audio tape of Syrian revolutionary activist “Maysoon Bayrakdar” who contacted Minister Georges Kordahi pretending to be the Egyptian media figure Lamis Al-Hadidi, the wife of journalist Amr Adib.

Maysoon Bayrakdar, an activist, is well-known for her frequent communication with figures that support the dictatorship of “Bashar al-Assad.” During each correspondence, she pretends to be a new character, and then sends him a caustic message because of his support for the Assad dictatorship, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Syrians and the relocation of millions.

Bayraktar spoke with Minister Kordahi on the recent crisis sparked by his comments on the “Barlaman Chaab” TV show, as well as the relations between Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

He also discussed Hezbollah’s role. Kordahi’s words were in support of the Houthi militia and Bashar al-Assad, without “Kordahi” being aware of what was going on or that the call was being recorded.

Minister Kordahi repeated his description of the war led by the coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen, against the Houthi coup militia, as absurd, and accused the Gulf states of rushing to form friendships with the Bashar al-Assad regime.

Kordahi indicated that the target in the recent crisis is the government, not him, and that there are attempts by the Gulf states to “blackmail” Lebanon through Lebanese nationals in the Gulf!

He indicated that the latest Emirati position on his statements does not reflect Emirati anger, but rather is “going along” with the Saudi position.

It was noteworthy that George Kordahi’s attack on the journalist “Faisal Al Qassem” was described as having Qatari and Brotherhood tendencies, in reference to Al Qassem’s shedding light on Kordahi’s recent statements.

It is noteworthy that the famous statements of the Minister of Information, Georges Kordahi, met with a wave of condemnation and severe blame, which included a lot of support towards the President of the Syrian regime and the Houthi militia in Yemen.

Kordahi considered that there was a global conspiracy against Syria and that what the Assad regime did was self-defense.

In terms of civilian victims, including children, men, and women, Kordahi classified them as victims of the battle necessary to combat terrorists, refusing to label Bashar al-Assad a criminal.

He also complimented the Ansar Allah-affiliated Houthi militia, saying they were protecting themselves and not attacking anyone, and that “the war in Yemen is senseless and should end.”

“Houthis has been defending itself against external attacks on Yemen for years,” he stated.
