Ghada Aoun calls on Supreme Court to stop indiscriminate campaigns against her

The Public Prosecution Office at the Court of Appeal in Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, sent a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council in which she said:

“To the Supreme Judicial Council, to those charged with upholding the rule of law by preserving the prestige of the judiciary and enforcing its respect. The majority of what can be summed up in describing the current stage can be summed up in two words: intimidating judges. Slander and insults were sometimes directed at me, as was the case yesterday in the episode “The Time Has Come.” Why? Because they dared to open files that powerful people in this country do not want opened in order to spread the rule of impunity.”

“Therefore, I call on your department to intervene to stop these indiscriminate campaigns against judges, at least not only to preserve the prestige of the judge, but rather not to generalize the phenomenon of media immorality and impunity.”
