The media office of the Minister of Social Affairs, Hector Hajjar, issued the following statement:

“In response to what was published yesterday after the meeting of the committee considering financial crisis’ consequences, Minister Hajjar would like to clarify that the research topic was the implementation of the emergency project to support the social safety net in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic crisis in Lebanon, which is known as ESSN and not the ration card. During the meeting, Hajjar presented the necessary amendments to Law No. 219, which was referred to Parliament Speaker, who notified the Prime Minister to convene a parliamentary session on the 28th October to approve it and enter into effect to assist citizens.
