Has International Monetary Fund provided financial support to Lebanon?

In response to claims shared by the International Monetary Fund will provide between 3 to 4 billion dollars in financial assistance to Lebanon, a spokesperson for the International Monetary Fund said: “IMF experts did not enter into any discussion with the Lebanese authorities regarding possible financial support in the framework of a future program with Lebanon. As we noted earlier, the IMF is looking forward to forming a government in Lebanon with a mandate to implement reforms to address the deepening crisis.”

The IMF spokesperson added: “International Monetary Fund experts continue to provide technical assistance to Lebanon based on the needs of the Lebanese authorities.”
