After it was circulated on social media that Information Minister Georges Qordahi had submitted a request for his resignation to President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Kordahi denied the news.

He said via a televised intervention: “What was circulated about submitting my resignation request to Presidents Aoun and Mikati is fabricated.”

It is noteworthy that political circles of “Al-Jumhuriya” underestimated the possible effects of the resignation on Riyadh’s stance, because its problem goes beyond the person of the Minister of Information, to the role of “Hezbollah” in Lebanon and the region.
In this context, Qordahi told “Al-Jumhuriya”: “The time has come to resign, and I am convinced that I made the right decision at the right time, and therefore I feel internally comfortable.”
