Healthcare crisis has reached the red line, says Araji

Head of Parliamentary Health Committee MP Assem Araji confirmed that the healthcare crisis has reached the red line.

Araji said on his Twitter account: “The healthcare situation is worsening day after another, in terms of services and quality due to the critical shortage of medical supplies, pharmaceutical, and the high hospital tariffs, due to devaluation.”

Araji added that serious attempts to put an end for the sector’s deterioration have been faced by the ongoing collapse in the value of the national currency, along with the greediness prevailing among monopolists.”

The Syndicate of Private Hospitals has said previously in a statement that “hospitals are suffering from a severe shortage of medical supplies required for laboratory tests and diagnosing diseases.” This has led hospitals to stop conducting these tests for the patients, and forced it to reduce the number of admissions.
