Head of the Bakery Owners Syndicate, Ali Ibrahim, confirmed that “the approval of the World Bank on the emergency loan to import wheat, announced by the Minister of Economy, Amin Salam, relieves us for a period ranging up to approximately six months.”
Ibrahim added: “I hope that the disbursement of the loan will be quick to reduce confusion, especially since the need for wheat is very dire,” hoping that “we will witness stability in the price of a bundle of bread.”
It is noteworthy that the Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, had announced that “Lebanon has received the final approval from the World Bank, for an emergency loan to support wheat imports, at a value of $150 million.”
