Italian Foreign Ministry has called on International Community to interfere, help Lebanon address crises

The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, stated that his country has made a long-term investment in Lebanon, but that the international community must play a role in reversing the dynamics aggravated by the overlapping crises.

On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio told the Joint Foreign and Defense Committees of the Parliament and the Senate of the Republic that Lebanon “is witnessing deep Italian institutional economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of education, housing, and health,” in reference to Italy’s participation in international military missions.

According to the “Italian News Agency,” Di Maio stated that Italy is engaging “with the second largest force within the framework of the United Nations Interim Mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and we are leading the mission aimed at ensuring security and stability along the Blue Line drawn in southern Lebanon.”
