Lebanon reports new 1,511 COVID-19 infections, 28 deaths

BEIRUT: Lebanon has registered new 1,511 COVID-19 infections and 28 fatalities in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported on Saturday.

The cases were detected among 16,749 tests, with only 9 cases found among travelers arriving at Rafik Hariri International Airport. The average positivity rate throughout the last two weeks stood at 12%.

The total number of fatalities now stands at 5,169, according to a Health Ministry tally.

The statistics provided by the Health Ministry also show that 1,460 patients are currently hospitalized for the coronavirus and related complications, with 671 in the intensive care and 185 requiring ventilators.

The Health Ministry also reported that 5,574 first-stage jabs and 1,969 second-round vaccinations were administered in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of inoculations since the Feb. 14 onset to 273,748 first-stage and 146,480 second-stage jabs so far.
