Minister of Public Health Firas Abiad tweeted the following:

“True, life is a position of honor, but it is also a position of loyalty, and I say it in my quality of a Lebanese who has lived and worked in the Kingdom for years, grateful for all of the support, reconstruction, grants, and job opportunities provided by Gulf countries.”

Dr. Abiad’s tweet was in response to a tweet by Ali Hamieh, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, who stated that “national sovereignty, decision-making independence, and the dignity of Lebanon, transcend all considerations.”

Lebanon is experiencing its worst diplomatic crisis in its history, as a number of Gulf countries cut ties with the country in response to statements made by the Minister of Information George Kordahi, that were deemed insulting to Saudi Arabia and siding with the Houthi militia in Yemen’s civil war.
