Machnouk’s attorney files a request to dismiss Judge Bitar from August 4 blast case

Press information revealed that the Former Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk’s Attorney at-Law Naoum Farah is currently submitting to the Appeal Court a response to dismiss Judge Bitar from the August 4 explosion case.

The information also indicated that the request  submitted by Machnouk’s attorney becomes effective only when Bitar is personally notified, and the latter is not present at the Justice  Palace today.

Bitar set in July a date for questioning former Prime Minister Hassan Diab, and also asked Parliament to lift the immunity of three MPs who previously held ministerial positions: Ali Hassan Khalil (Finance Minister), Ghazi Zaiter (Minister of Public Works) and Nohad Machnouk (Minister of Interior) “in preparation for prosecution.”

Bitar also asked the Bar Association in Tripoli (North) to grant him permission to prosecute Fenianos, and the Minister of Interior to grant him approval to prosecute the Director General of Public Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim.
