Mikati advocates for global action on the refugee crisis at World Forum in Switzerland

Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati called for urgent global action on the Syrian displacement crisis and the humanitarian situation in Gaza at the World Forum for Refugees in Switzerland.

Mikati emphasized Lebanon’s precarious position, stating the country is on the brink of total collapse. He highlighted the challenges of addressing both the Syrian displacement since 2011 and the unfolding situation in Gaza.

Mikati urged the international community to take immediate measures to stop violence, protect civilians, and ensure a fair and lasting solution respecting Palestinian rights.

He also addressed Lebanon’s economic burdens due to Syrian migrants, proposing a comprehensive plan to tackle the root causes of the Syrian crisis and calling for global cooperation to resolve the refugee crisis.

Mikati emphasized Lebanon’s right to seek assistance in addressing the imminent collapse and its determination to protect its homeland and people’s dignity.
