Minister Al-Halabi inspects Radio Lebanon

Minister of Education and Acting Minister of Information, Dr. Abbas Al-Halabi, on Tuesday paid a visit to state-run Radio Lebanon, where he toured in the company of radio officials the Station’s various live broadcast and recording studios, archives and Fairouz studio.

Accompanied by his Media Advisor, Albert Chamoun, Minister Al-Halabi valued the Station’s existing studios and equipment.

Al-Halabi then visited the radio archive section, which includes treasures of original recordings of renowned and famous singers and artists, in addition to the programs since the establishment of the radio to date.

Al-Halabi paid tribute to all media professionals, administrative staff and technicians at the Radio, as they “work in extremely difficult conditions in order to ensure the continuity of the institution.”

The Minister indicated his determination to cooperate with external and donor sides to secure electricity, services and equipment, as well as to digitize the entire archive, pointing out “the existing cooperation with UNESCO to secure computers and servers for the National News Agency.”

Al-Halabi contacted legal sides “to solicit their opinion on transforming Radio Lebanon, Tele Liban, the National News Agency, and the Studies Center into productive sectors that contribute to securing part of the expenses for the radio and partner institutions.”

Moreover, Al-Halabi pointed out the existing cooperation with the French side to follow up on the digitization of the radio, television and news archive to ensure its advancement.
